What's been going on?

Christmas is only 2 sleeps away! Squeal!

It has been keeping me very busy this year, although I must admit Christmas shopping only started on Tuesday 20th December! Nothing like leaving it to the last minute. I still have one more to get, for my father. It is always so hard buying presents for your dad, isn't it? And, of course, the "perfect" book that my lovely partner declared 'he' would be purchasing from us for my dad is now sold out... everywhere. But we'll figure something out tomorrow :)

So, this is what I've been up to lately...

This is all the decorations my poor Christmas tree managed this year, thanks to two almost two years olds.
A little project making newborn and preemie beanies for the Special Care Nursery of my local hospital.

Lots of late nights, warm beverages, yummo snacks and pom poms

Lots of sewing pom poms onto lots of red hats

... to complete a custom order of 14 Santa Hats

made an apple

popped in in a basket with some other goodies for my son's teacher.
All of which Master N helped with.

"You're a star!" cookies

and the little apple thank you card is a free printable!

And my little man was in the choir for his school performance night (as was the rest of the class if they weren't chosen to perform - still exciting nonetheless)

And this little tunic for a friends baby, little Scarlett (gorgeous name isn't it)
Pattern available from Mon Petit Violon on Etsy. I have altered mine a little though.

That's part of whats been going on around these parts of late.

I hope everyone has the most FABULOUS Christmas and a happy, healthy 2012!

I can see a (bumpy) rainbow

The last few weeks I've been in the process of making this fun, bright, 'ooh aah' provoking, bobble stitch rainbow blanket.

I am completely in love with it and have been changing my mind daily whether to keep or sell... I decided to sell and it was snapped up in record time, which I'm delighted with. The reasons i decided to sell it were that although I LOVE it I have three boys that would be fighting over it, and i don't have enough energy to make another two, so as they say, If you love it, set it free, poor blanket would have a rough time in this house.

SO! for the technicalities...

Its made of acrylic yarn. I chose this so it was easy care, non allergenic, and child proof. 7 colours (green, (aqua-ish) blue, purple, pink, red, orange and yellow), 35 stripes (consisting of 2 rows of each colour), and a simple SC border (thought the blanket was fancy enough didn't want to overdo it). 47x38 inches or 120x97cm, so generous cot size or perfect 'back of the two seater sofa' size.

Here's a few progress shots...

Yes it is pretty simple for a crochet blanket, but its not what fancy stitch i used that makes it sooo special. The colours and texture are just Divine! I would just stop and stare at the bobble-y goodness, the twins would marvel at the 'Clow-lers' and tell me which one was Sam, Murray, Jeff... (I have Wiggles LOVERS in this house!). It is a fantastic sensory tool for the little ones and it was made with love, and intended to have a long life.

My 3yr old nephew showing me that this colour is "Ben 10, seeeee"
*sigh* I dislike sewing in ends

Hope you enjoyed a bit of crochet-y,
rainbow-y, bobble-y goodness.

Special thanks goes to Master H for the use of his cot and faceless giraffe (I'm not great at faces)...
